How can I access this financial assistance?
Canadians who require such assistance can contact their nearest Government of Canada office: (https://travel.gc.ca/assistance/embassies-consulates) or Contact Global Affairs Canada’s 24/7 Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa by calling +1 613-996-8885 (call collect where available) or by sending an email to CAN.finances.CV19@international.gc.ca
At this point, they will have the ability to fill out an Emergency Loan Request Form, found here: https://www.international.gc.ca/covid-19-loan-pret/form-formulaire.aspx?lang=eng
Is this a loan or a grant?
This is a loan, and will need to be repaid within 180 days of receiving an invoice. It is interest free.
